Black River to Wasdell Falls
Township of Ramara
ORILLIA & AREA'S FOUR SEASON PLAYGROUND IN SIMCOE COUNTY! ONE HOUR NORTH OF TORONTO
Township of Ramara
You will be paddling against the mild current on your return paddle from Wasdell Falls. Spring can be heavier current. Please respect and obey the rules of the waterway. Always paddle within your ability.
The Black River is one of the most scenic routes in all of Ontario’s Lake Country. It is a peaceful setting passing by some cottages and homes. Start your paddle off in the Green River and watch the colour of the water change as you connect with the Black River. Paddle toward Wasdell Falls, where you will see the first generating station constructed by the Hydro-Electric Power Commission in 1914. This is a great paddle in spring, summer or viewing the fall colours and connecting with nature. Only a short section of the Black River has been selected for this guide, stay tuned for more in the future. There are also opportunities to paddle further on the Black River or connect again to the Green River.
